a Coding Dojo Bootcamp Alternative

Coding Dojo is a well-known software development bootcamp, but it’s not for everyone. Here’s why many students are choosing TripleTen instead.

Why aspiring techies are choosing TripleTen over Coding Dojo.

TripleTen vs. Coding Dojo:
How they work

You’ll start out your Coding Dojo journey with an admissions process, during which you’ll be vetted and guided to the right program for you (if you pass muster). Following that, you’ll be spending 30 to 60 hours a week studying in one of their three programs, depending on whether you choose the part-time or full-time study option. Part-time will take longer, lasting up to 32 weeks, and studying full-time will cut that down a bit to 20 weeks.

They have “coding” in their name for a reason. During your heavy weekly study schedule, you’re going to be focused on learning the big three languages: Python, JavaScript, and Java (if you choose the full three-stack program). This is done through live lectures that happen between two and four times a week, supported by office hours available three to six times weekly, depending on whether you’re studying full-time or part-time.

TripleTen, in contrast, is much more accessible and much less limited. First of all, there’s no restrictive admissions process. Second, it offers more than only three programs, so prospective learners can find a subject that matches their aptitudes and interests. Within that, skills beyond coding are taught, as employers are looking for more than simple coding chops. Third, the time load is more realistic, meaning more knowledge can be acquired more reliably and lastingly. Its part-time time load is truly part-time, asking only roughly 20 hours per week for four to nine months, depending on the program.

And even with this more realistic time demand, graduates still finish the bootcamp with up to 15 projects in their portfolio by design. These serve as powerful bona-fides proving to recruiters that grads not only have the know-how, but have applied it as well. This can all then be further locked in, as TripleTen students have the opportunity to join an externship, a hands-on tech assignment with a real-life company.

The support is far more robust, too. While studying, students have more immediate access to learning coaches, tutors, instructors, and career coaches. We’ll emphasize that last bit; career acceleration is crucial to how TripleTen operates. You and a career coach will build out a personalized job search strategy, upgrade your resume and portfolio, and build your soft skills through mock interviews. This means TripleTen is confident in offering a money-back guarantee whereas Coding Dojo has no corresponding guarantee.

TripleTen vs. Coding Dojo:
Job placement rates

According to information from 2024, the latest available, Coding Dojo had a graduate employment rate of 83.8%. However, that data also comes from a time when the bootcamp’s offerings included cybersecurity and data science, which have since been removed.

TripleTen’s, in comparison, is 82%. In absolute terms, it’s lower, sure, but it’s more or less comparable, and instead of being based on antiquated data, it comes from a far fresher report, meaning it’s more reliable. It’d be interesting to see how Coding Dojo’s rate has fared since it was last reported, but that info hasn’t been updated for some reason.

TripleTen vs. Coding Dojo:
Prices in comparison

On average, TripleTen is cheaper than Coding Dojo. TripleTen programs cost between $7,050 and $17,950. This depends on how you choose to cover the cost: paying upfront will be cheaper, and longer installments will be more expensive.

Coding Dojo costs $9,995 to $16,995. Keep in mind that these prices cover only software engineering, and then even within that, they heavily focus on individual tech stacks, meaning you get good focus, but you might not have the breadth of skills necessary to snag a recruiter’s attention.

TripleTen vs. Coding Dojo: Programs on offer.

TripleTen bootcamps
and duration

TripleTen has seven diverse programs that teach students the tech that companies are using now in various specializations. And learners prove they have those skills thanks to the project-based learning philosophy. By design, graduates finish with portfolios of work in-hand that attest to the fact they don’t just have the know-how, but that they also applied it. These bona-fides can then be augmented with externships, opportunities to join hands-on projects with real-life companies. And all of this is backed by a money-back guarantee

TripleTen vs. Coding Dojo: Programs on offer.

Coding Dojo bootcamps and duration

Coding Dojo takes a different approach. Instead of allowing students to match their studies to subjects that fit their interests, they offer only software development, but they do go fairly deep on languages. In fact, if you choose the three-stack version, you’ll be exposed to Python, Java, and JavaScript. However, learning three full languages in such a short amount of time can be a crunch for many, and even with the higher time demands, students might not finish the program feeling confident in their knowledge, as they won’t have proven and locked in their skills with an externship.

TripleTen vs. Coding Dojo:
Career support

Coding Dojo offers lifetime access to its career services, which include creating or improving a LinkedIn profile, resume, and GitHub portfolio. You’ll also be exposed to job search and networking strategies as well as interview preparation tools. In addition, you’ll gain access to their alumni network and benefit from practice interviews.

TripleTen’s offerings are similar. It provides lifetime access to its career services as well. However, it differs in specificity. With TripleTen, each student benefits from personalized career search strategies built in collaboration with a career coach. So with TripleTen, you get the support you need: LinkedIn profile polishing, resume building, portfolio upgrades, cover letter assistance, and mock interviews (both behavioral and technical). But this is all built in direct connection with a professional whose entire job is based on helping you find a job in your new field. And as mentioned, if you don’t land the job within 10 months of finishing your program, we back up our education and career services with a money-back guarantee.
