This sprint lays the foundation. You learn how large language models produce an answer, how models differ and how to pick one for a task, and what turns a model into an agent: tools, skills, connectors, MCP, subagents. You learn where models get it wrong or biased and which data must never be uploaded.
By the end you can choose a model and a toolset for a task and name the data that stays out of it.

Where AI gives an effect in a business process and where it does not. You collect candidate processes, interview the process owner, map the process as is, fix the baseline before any change (time, money, errors), compare the options (drop the work, simplify it, plain automation, AI, buy ready-made) and rank them by effect, difficulty and risk.
By the end you have a first business case for the process you chose.

- Microsoft Forms
- Visio
- Microsoft Whiteboard
You turn a work task into a brief for AI: what is needed, for whom, in what format, how to tell the result is good. You choose the context, documents, data and examples, and what to keep out. You get structured output, build a knowledge base without code, brief an agent (goal, steps, tools, where it stops and asks a person) and rework the brief until the result is stable across different inputs.
By the end you have a first version of an assistant for your process and a set of test inputs.
Tools- Microsoft 365 Copilot
- SharePoint
- Copilot Studio
You break the process into steps and decide what AI does, what a plain rule does and what a person does. You build an automation with an AI step: trigger, steps, conditions, a human check. You build an agent with tools and set what it may do, what data it sees and where it hands the work back to a person. You learn when robotic process automation is the right answer and when integration is, and how to debug from run logs.
By the end you have a prototype of your solution.
Tools- Power Automate
- Copilot Studio
How systems talk to each other: API requests and keys, webhooks and HTTP steps, custom connectors, and MCP to connect an agent to a working system. Where code is unavoidable, you write a simple script with an AI assistant.
You finish with an action plan for your solution.
Tools- Power Automate
- Copilot Studio
- Azure AI Foundry
You build a test set from real cases: ordinary, edge and critical, with reference answers. You set quality criteria and the price of an error, find the typical failures (invented facts, wrong calculations, an agent doing too much), use a model as a judge where it helps and a person where it must, compare versions so that a fix does not break what worked, and set up guardrails, acceptance testing and monitoring after launch.
By the end you have an evaluation report with a version comparison and one failure analyzed in full.
Tools- Copilot Studio

- Excel
The risks of your use case: data, compliance, model errors, reputation. Which data may go into which tool, who needs which access, and how to check it in practice. Rules built into the solution itself: limits for the agent, a human check, an action log. What regulation requires (GDPR, HIPAA, SOX, the EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF). The full cost of the solution: licenses, model calls, people’s time on checking, support. Build or buy, and how to assess a vendor. The business case and the plan to measure the effect after launch.
By the end you can defend an action plan: rules, risks, total cost, go or no-go.
Tools- Excel
- Copilot Studio
- Power Automate
You find out what the business actually needs: interviews and workshops, the right questions. You describe the process as is and to be and find the place for AI in it. You turn the need into requirements: user stories, acceptance criteria, what AI does and what a person does, a backlog. You write SQL together with AI (filters, joins, grouping), check data quality and reconcile the result against a control calculation.

You build a dashboard for a manager’s question: which metrics, which filters, which chart. You build the data model behind it, build it with AI and decide where AI inside the BI tool and dashboards inside chat assistants replace classic BI and where they do not, reconcile the numbers against SQL, set up automatic refresh, and build the dashboard that shows the effect of the AI solution, accepted against criteria and user acceptance testing.

The path of data in a company: source, warehouse, transformation, report or AI. You find the tables in a cloud warehouse and how they relate, analyze data in Python with an AI assistant and tell a code error from a data error, pull data from a system through an API and build a scheduled pipeline, check quality inside the pipeline (gaps, duplicates, freshness), and prepare data for AI: field and metric descriptions, a knowledge base.

Frequently asked questions
What does an AI Business Analyst do?
An AI business analyst takes a business question all the way to a decision. They find out what leaders need, pull the data themselves with SQL, check it against a control calculation, automate recurring reports, and build dashboards that answer the manager’s question.
How do I become an AI business analyst?
Build on the experience you already have with numbers. AI business analyst postings ask for experience turning data into decisions, plus skills like SQL, BI dashboards, requirements gathering, and checking AI output. If you work in finance, accounting, or reporting, the AI Business Analytics program adds those skills in 4–5 months, part-time.
Who is the AI Business Analytics program for?
It’s for office professionals with 2+ years in a business function who already turn numbers into conclusions: financial analysts, accountants, AR and AP specialists, and anyone who owns recurring reports. If AI now builds the reports you used to build, this program teaches you to own the analysis behind them.
Is this program new?
Yes. AI Business Analytics launched in October 2026 and replaces TripleTen’s Data Analytics program.
Will AI replace financial analysts, accountants, and business analysts?
AI is already taking over routine work in many finance teams, like reconciliations and template reports. But human judgment is still needed to decide which number matters, trace where it came from, and explain it to leadership. This program trains you on setting tasks for AI, catching its errors before anyone sees them, and bringing recommendations to team leaders.
Do I need to know SQL or Python?
No. You’ll learn to write SQL with an AI assistant and check every result against a control calculation. Later, you’ll analyze data in Python with AI and learn to tell a code error from a data error. If you haven’t worked much with statistics, an extra bridge module is included within your weekly study hours to bring you up to speed.
Do I have to start my career over?
No. The program builds on your current experience, and you’ll add AI skills on top of it. Before you start, you’ll get a target list of 10–15 real job openings that you’ll work towards.
Am I too old to move into AI?
No. In these roles, experience matters more than age. Job postings ask for skills like analyzing data, explaining numbers to leadership, and knowing how an industry works, and those come with years at work. The program is built for experienced professionals, so a long career works in your favor.
Is a certificate enough without a degree?
A certificate won’t replace a degree where a posting requires one. What it adds is proof you can apply AI to your work: four projects with before-and-after numbers, a final project review by a manager who hires for similar roles, and a certificate listing the role requirements you closed. It takes 4–5 months part-time, compared with 1–2 years for a master’s in business analytics.
Can I use this to move up to a higher role at my current company?
Yes. After the program, you’ll have AI skills and four projects that show how you applied them to processes like plan-vs-actual and recurring reporting, each with a before-and-after ROI number. That’s the evidence you need to make a strong case for a bigger role, at your current company or elsewhere.
Can I stay in finance or my current industry?
Yes, and it’s often the strongest path. Your industry knowledge, like accounting or regulatory requirements, counts as experience employers ask for. In the program, you can start in the virtual company’s finance department, so your projects run on processes you already know, like plan-vs-actual and month-end close. For finance professionals, that makes AI part of the job you already understand.
How long does the program take, and can I study with a full-time job?
The program runs online and part-time, and takes 4–5 months if you put in 10–12 hours a week, so you can keep your full-time job. If month-end or tax season gets too busy, you can pause the program once for up to 4 weeks.
What AI business analytics projects will I complete?
You’ll work as an AI business analyst in a virtual company with 18 months of operational data. You’ll find where your team loses time, build an AI agent and test it on 200 past records, build a live dashboard on SQL data that refreshes itself, and create an AI analyst that answers another team’s questions, like “Why did my unit go over budget?”
Which tools will I use?
You’ll work with SQL, Python, pandas, Power BI, Tableau, Databricks, and GitHub, plus Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, Azure AI Foundry, ChatGPT, and Claude. Lessons aren’t tied to one tool, so you can pick another one for your project if you can explain why it fits.
How is this different from a business analytics or data analytics course?
AI Business Analytics is built for people who already work with numbers. On top of your experience, it adds what AI business analyst postings ask for: requirements gathering, SQL, automated pipelines, BI dashboards, and checking AI output. Your projects run on a business function you know, and the program ends with a final project review by a manager who hires analysts.
How can accountants and financial analysts use AI?
Accountants and financial analysts use AI to draft recurring reports, explain variances, and answer questions like “Why did my unit go over budget?” The skill that matters is checking the output: tracing each number to its source and catching AI errors before they reach leadership. AI Business Analytics trains both on finance processes like plan-vs-actual and month-end close.
What career support will I get?
After the final project review, you’ll get a résumé built from your four projects with numbers, applications to specific openings through our platform, AI mock interview practice for each opening, a live mock interview with a coach before a real interview, and offer negotiation prep. Career support lasts up to 6 months after graduation.
How much does the AI Business Analytics program cost?
Tuition is $9,900 upfront, in one payment or 2 or 4 payments. A monthly plan costs $15,000 total: 12 months with $500 down and $1,208 a month, or 18 months with $750 down and $792 a month. Loans through Climb, Edly, or Fortify start with $0 down. You can also ask your employer for tuition reimbursement.
