When changing your profession, advice and guidance from a career expert can go a long way. Career coaches do exactly that: they support you as you shift careers, helping you make the most of your experience and knowledge. Normally, a career coaching session can cost up to $500, but at TripleTen, their expertise is included in the Career Acceleration programHow TripleTen’s Career Center Helps You Land a Job that every bootcamp student has free access to.

How exactly do TripleTen counselors help you kick-start your career in tech? And will their guidance lead to quick results? Let’s dive in.

What Are Career Coaches in the First Place?

Career coaches, as the name suggests, answer any questions you might have regarding your professional growth. If you feel stuck, it could be a sign that you need a coach to give you a nudge in the right direction.

Career coaches offer a wide range of services: from job hunting to upgrading your resume to giving general advice on what you should focus on.

Besides the basics, an experienced counselor can help you with things like building an overarching strategy for your growth as a specialist, networking with your colleaguesHow Non-Toxic Networking Helps You Land a Job, or even finding your footing during your first weeks at a new place. In short, a good coach can play a vital role in your career.

What Benefits Will I Get After Consulting a Career Coach?

The results depend on your needs. But here are the basics:

  • A polished resume that’s relevant to the positions you’re interested in
  • An eye-catching LinkedIn profile
  • A well-structured portfolio featuring a selection of your recent projectsWhy Externships Are Great for Your Portfolio
  • A job search road map telling you what jobs to apply for and how
  • A guide to successful interviews and interview practice

Plus, working with a career coach should give you an overall confidence boost. It will help you stay relaxed throughout the entire process of job hunting and even enjoy it, too.

How do I Find a Career Coach?

You can venture into a search for a career coach on your own. Career coaches list their services on business review websites like Yelp, online work marketplaces like Upwork, or social networks like Facebook and LinkedIn.

If you are looking for a career coach on your own, pay attention to your potential coach’s background. See where they studied and worked, what degrees and certificates they hold, and what areas they specialize in. After all, you need an expert who will meet your specific needs.

How Much do Career Coaches Charge Their Clients?

Fees vary. But unless you are hiring a close friend or an absolute beginner, you should be prepared to fork out anything between $100 and $500 for each thirty-minute- to hour-long session.

It’s money well spent, but still a lot of money. Especially if you’re going to need more than just one session. And some coaches charge extra for technical tasks such as brushing up your resume and LinkedIn profile.

The good news is that compared to freelance counselors, TripleTen career coaches don’t charge you anything. It’s all covered by your tuition, including one-on-one sessions, mock interviews, and more.

How Will TripleTen’s Career Coaches Help Me Get a Job?

TripleTen’s career coaches are professionals in the tech industry, many of whom have experience working as recruiters for major tech companies. This gives them the ability to work out a sure-fire strategy to help our students. They keep their finger on the pulse of the latest HR industry trends and are up-to-date with job market insights and the best practices in coaching.

Every TripleTen student can have one-on-one sessions with a career coach and can ask for more if needed.

Coaches are also available during weekly “Ask Me Anything” meetings and during office hours. So, basically, you get as much support as you can take.

Our coaches keep a watchful eye on the progress our students make. At TripleTen, we follow up with our students so that we know that they’ve got everything covered and are moving in the right direction.

When you enroll in a part-time bootcamp, your career preparation begins about one-third of the way into the program. Full-time students have access to career counseling from day one.

You’ll learn how to write sterling resumes and cover letters that will be polished to a high shine by industry experts. You’ll have an enviable LinkedIn page and GitHub portfolioWhy Knowing Git As A Developer Is Crucial. You’ll be taken through hours of mock interviews so that you know exactly what to do and say at real ones.

And the cherry on top is that TripleTen grads can request post-employment support at any point even after they’ve finished the program.

Once again, you won’t have to pay a cent for either sessions or extra services.

At TripleTen, all career coaching is included in your tuition.

How Effective Are TripleTen Career Coaches?

We take a lot of pride in our students because almost all of them get a job in tech within six months of their graduation. To be more precise, 87 percent of grads get hired within 180 days. About half of TripleTen students start working — and earning money — before completing the course.

To sum up, here’s a review from TripleTen grad Samantha Horsch, who now works as a software engineer at Target:

“Students can opt to participate in the Career Prep Program, which will give them the tools to break into the tech industry. It will also assist with cover letters, networking, resumes, and job-searching strategies. This helped me immensely because the program gives insight on what should be done to land a job — something that I never learned during my BA or MA.”
